Summer in Santa Barbara

It's a little late, but Happy Holidays! I hope your winter break was relaxing, joyful, and filled with family and friends. This blog post is aptly named "Summer in Santa Barbara" because, while it does get pretty chilly here at night, we've had sun and 70 degree weather almost every day since we've moved here (summer year-round!).

We spent the holidays visiting only places that start with "S." We survived the cold in Seattle, enjoyed Christmas with the Takayamas in San Francisco (okay, actually Danville) and celebrated the New Year in San Diego. Here are some photos: http://www.flickr.com/photos/traveltt/sets/72157628583429547/show/

We were also honored to be the professional photographers/videographers at the wedding of Michael Haines Jr. and my RA partner-in-crime, Roxanne Bevel. I enjoyed reconnecting with some of the Marshall RA's at the beautiful wedding in Montebello.

Updates
  • I started a new blog where I will be sharing my thoughts/ideas for education. Please feel free to subscribe/follow: http://learning2pt0.blogspot.com/
  • I was hired as the Academic Peer Advisor for the Graduate Division at UC Santa Barbara and one of my main jobs is to provide content about wellness, professional development, and academic skills on the UCSB GradPost (http://gradpost.ucsb.edu). I also developed an app for the GradPost which will be available for iPads soon :)
  • My K-12 Tech Tools wiki is reaching over 8,000 viewers from 140 countries worldwide every month.
  • Trev is taking on every possible role at his elementary school. He's currently pitching the idea of creating an after-school digital yearbook club and there seems to be a lot of interest in it!

Take Care!
Torrey :)

Another great update! I should be visiting you/UCSB soon in spring/summer, so I can't wait to see it all in person!
