SB Zoo & Rincon Surf Classic

We recently upgraded my Canon Rebel XTi from 2006 to a Canon 60D (a fancy new professional camera with exceptional photo and video quality). In order to celebrate, we went to the Santa Barbara Zoo to test out our new camera. The Zoo was a decent size - it took about 2 hours to visit all of the exhibits. The best exhibit was the giraffes with a backdrop of the ocean - something you won't see in Africa. We enjoyed watching two monkeys play tag and seeing Lucky, the penguin with a walking cast, hop around during feeding time. Trev did a great job capturing the patterns, textures, and actions of the animals at the Zoo with our new camera and telephoto lens.

We also found out late Friday night that the Rincon Surf Classic would be held this weekend, so we headed down to Carpinteria after the zoo. We watched the professional heats and even though it was windy and the conditions were rough, we saw a few ariels and some incredible maneuvers on the waves. We even watched 3-time world champion Tom Curren rippin' up his heat and taking first place (with a 4'11" board). Trev and I took turns snapping photos of the surfers.
