Museums, Ice Skating, Turkey Bowl & More

I hope you all had a happy Thanksgiving with lots of food and fun times with family. Pictured above is the Turkey Trophy that my 3rd grade class won in the Turkey Bowl (a kickball tournament) on Wednesday. Following the Turkey Bowl, we had a Thanksgiving potluck feast for lunch - the students enjoyed turkey, mashed potatoes, cranberries, macaroni and cheese, and more side dishes and desserts than they could finish.

Trev and I spent our Thanksgiving weekend eating lots of delicious vegan food (all prepared by Trev) and enjoying the cool fall weather. We went ice skating at the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden outdoor skating rink. Then we explored the National Gallery of Art West and East buildings.

Last weekend, we visited the National Museum of Natural History. I was very impressed with the exhibits, although it was hard to find our way around. We saw the Hope Diamond, fossils from dinosaurs, giant underwater creatures, and more. The gemstones exhibit was amazing (and shiny). There were many different examples of gold and what platinum and gold look like before they are cut into expensive gems.

The weather is getting cooler. I was excited to wear my snow gear outside (although it was sunny) yesterday. It has been very windy and it is fun to watch the strong wind storms carry all of the falling leaves away. As you can see in the picture, Lily is preparing for the cold winter ahead :)
