55 hours of buses...and still going strong!

Well we last left off with starting Spanish School in Antigua...that was awesome (I could write this entire entry in Spanish..but decided against it...hehe). We studied 4 hours every morning. Returned to our host family for a homemade lunch, picked up some hot banana bread from the local bakery, and had activities in the afternoon like Salsa Dancing Classes, Building Desks for a local school, Climbing a Volcano and watching the lava flow down from only about 10 feet away, then hiking down in pitch black, and making tortillas.
We went to San Salvador City, where the locals are not the nicest of people, but we survived. There was a huge mall and we were lucky to find Harry Potter 5 in theatres, we saw it twice for only $3 each time. We also found the 7th Harry Potter book and read it in ONE day...about 12 hours in La Libertad, during a huge lightning storm.
In El Libertad (El Salvador), we attempted to surf, but the waves were a lot stronger than we expected, the water was polluted from the rain (yay Hep A shot!) and we ended up with some new cuts and exhausted. However, Costa Rican waves should be much better! There were lots of lightning storms in El Salvador and TONS of downpours (now I know why its called the rainy season down here).
BUSING, over the last two days we rode 9 buses for 14 hours from San Salvador, through Honduras, and finally made it to Granada, Nicuragua. It was quite an experience, everything from shuttles, vans, and chicken buses (yes, there was a chicken on our bus...see the pictures). Over potholes, through lightning and thunderstorms, and around cows.
Granada is a beautiful little town. Unfortunately, I have been fighting with some stomach issues and trying to eat, but we have been resting here and hope to return to full action soon enough (aka. a Canopy Tour through the jungle tomorrow). Then we head off to an island, some more surfing, and finally Costa Rica! We will send another update at our next chance. I miss all of you!
