Rolf & Heather's Wedding 2012
Last week, Trev and I drove to San Diego to prepare for my sister, Heather's, beautiful wedding. On Wednesday, we held a last minute work party, where my dad placed tiny "Heather & Rolf 2012" arc-shaped stickers on 60 boat steering wheel shaped magnets, Myrna placed flower petals in individual bags for people to toss after the ceremony, and Trev used his amazing cursive skills to write all of the place cards. I had to complete my matron of honor duties by attending the dress fitting and brow waxing ceremonies of the bride.
On Friday, we drove up to Newport Beach to attend the wedding rehearsal aboard Mojo (the yacht) and the rehearsal cocktail party at Oceanfront Restaurant. Rolf Sr. (Rolf's dad) welcomed Heather to the family and everyone celebrated with a little too much to drink.
Saturday, August 11, 2012 - the day my sister has been planning for over a year. I found out last minute that the bridesmaids needed to wear matching pink getting-ready outfits. Luckily Myrna came to the rescue with a pink top. We spent the afternoon getting hair and makeup done in the Hyatt Regency resort. Although I had more fun watching the Olympic rhythmic gymnastics competition on TV than being poked and prodded for beauty, I have to say that my makeup artist (Heather's friend Julie) and hair specialist (Heather's friend Shalom) did an amazing job and didn't torture me too badly. After snapping over 500 getting-ready photos, the time came to board the yacht.
We had a room on the bottom of the boat to get ready. Unfortunately, the room had little air flow and it was 80+ degrees outside. We managed to survive the heat and hairspray-filled room to help Heather put on her beautiful wedding dress, jewelry, tiara, veil, and wedding Toms.
Around 6:15 p.m., the boat was making its way around the harbor and we were called to start the ceremony on the top deck (fresh air - hallelujah!). The ceremony was beautiful - small setting overlooking the harbor. However, the boat went in a circling pattern right next to all the party boats, so we were serenaded by Nicki Minaj's Starships song at full blast from a boat of scantily clad individuals. Heather and Rolf said their "I do's," placed the rings on each other's fingers, and turned to the audience as Mr. and Mrs. Dahl-Hansen.
We took photos on the front of the yacht and Heather and Rolf took beautiful sunset photos on the back. Next we enjoyed dinner, toasts, and the common wedding traditions (cutting the cake, bouquet toss) and danced until the boat docked at 10pm.
Here are some of the photos Trev and I captured of the wedding:

All-in-all, it was a beautiful wedding for my amazing sister (who was also recently hired as a full time Kindergarten Math & Science teacher in Seattle - what a week!) and my brother-in-law.
Congrats Heather & Rolf!
