Santa Barbara Fall Update
Sunset in Isla Vista
Trev and I are getting into the swing of things here in Santa Barbara.
Trev is working as a Computer Teacher and Technology Specialist at a local elementary school (he also helps out with the flag football team and plays soccer with the students at lunch). And he was matched up with a Lil' Bro through the Big Brothers, Big Sisters volunteer program.
I started my Ph.D. program in Education at UCSB. I have three interesting classes this quarter (Qualitative Research Methods, Quantitative Research Methods, and Advances in Learning Sciences) with three amazing faculty members. The classes are very hands-on, student-driven.
We have been out and about enjoying Goleta and Santa Barbara. We enjoy walking 5-minutes from our apartment to the beach to see the sunset. We explored the Carpinteria Avocado Festival, which had avocado bread, pie, ice cream, and tons of guacamole. We also attended a UCSB Men's Soccer game and enjoyed watching the UCSB students throw tortillas on the field throughout the entire game.

Also, do you think Trev would like to write a blogpost about his experiences with BBBS for www.awhisperedwish.com? No pressure, but I'd love to profile him/them.
Mmm... avocado....
